Sciatica City
This week I have a great deal to do. Possibly, the new van to pick up and if so, a night away in it. However, it is too large to park locally for more than a night so I also need to go to a camper parking place outside of town and get set up there. I need to take photos of my Jimny, which I will list for sale as well. I still have a variety of Xmas gifts to get in and I need to go to my doctors in town to get a referral appointment. I need to do a whole bunch of accounting and much much more… however, at the moment all I can do is sneeze, cough and moan. Typical LOL!
For some time now, if I overdo the walking, my lower back starts to kill me. So, for example, last year, I walked 28km in Singapore one day and the rest of the week could barely walk at all. My limit seemed to be 20km or so and then….
However, about 6-months ago, I also started to get pain all down my leg from my hip area. Its truly strange as I can walk with no issue, then take a break and after getting back up, Im in pain - or vice versa. Yesterday, I managed 15km or so around Vienna with no issue. The night before, I took a cab from town as I couldn’t walk without pain.
I went to the doc a while ago and got a neurological appointment. Plainly, I have a nerve issue going on but what is causing it? Well, he wants me to have a couple of tests and an MRI to decide and that is why I must go into town and get these appointments set up. after that, we will try some physio I guess.
Now, this is a severe blow to me as I love to hike, dowse, camp and so on. Sometimes, I simply cannot do it. So, I’m keen to try to get this solved. If anyone has any suggestions - please do let me know in the comments section. To me, its a function of getting older and lifetime of sitting with poor posture at a desk…
I do hope it is resolvable.
You take mobility for granted like much else. When you see it threatened, its quite a shock - especially if your hobbies revolve around mobility. So, fingers crossed and I will soldier on regardless….. Nothing will stop me getting out into nature and dowsing…. nothing.

A good Osteopath is the best for those issues, sauna, some light overal muscle weighttraining/strengthening, hanging from a bar is always an easing move as well, steer clear of their 'help' 'tests' 'medical technology' ways to 'find out' where the 'problem' is ... if you can, those machines are not without side effects either, I wish you a peaceful day, read about Andrew Still, there are some great Osteopaths in Germany, next door, Munich or Potsdam, make sure you have a real Osteopath and not a Physiotherapist with an added short osteopathy course as an add on, bitter teas for the gut, only ues incandescent light bulbs in the home, stare into candle light 5 minutes a day, see what resonates leave the rest, Grüß Gott.
As a Bowen therapist I would say find a therapist that has good feedback, Ostepath, Chiropractor, Rolfer there are many therapies that can work and there are many good therapissts and some bad ones. Personal recommendation is a good start. Sciatica is usuallly easily solved. Find someone who helps and comit to regular treatments once the problem is eased/resolved. 4 times a year minimum at our age probably more regularly. Drs are not so useful in stories involving Fascia, posture, sitting even walking habitual movements are usually more to blame than any "neurological" thing. I was diagnosed with neurological left side problems some 30 yrs ago with a suggestion to come back when it was so bad I was in a wheelchair. I made changes and saw chiro's osteopaths and changed diet to resolve the problem and finally trained to hellp others the way I was helped. I still have issues lately not good after a ruptured disk which kicked up old problems but I know that getting back to some good bodyworkers will sort things out. I'm not sure about IOS Bowen therapists in Brno but I would guess there is a therapist around that would help you out. Walking is one of the best types of exercise so it is important to keep on going (pain free)
