This weekend, as usual I went dowsing and yet again discovered some fairly amazing places in the local area. I decided I would work the Templar line and just fill in some gaps as well as track another line that seemed to parallel the Templar in this area for a while. I was literally on the outskirts of town and within a couple of kilometres at most of the city. In fact, I began behind the Globus shopping Mall tracking the parallel line across the main railway route to Prague. I had been there before and found the Templar lines but on my second visit, I hoped to find a way to move east following it and this parallel line.
It’s hard to describe this place but it is a stream with several lakes along it and lots of Chatas (weekend cottages) and a few homes. With the weather being nice, avoiding cyclists was part of the requirement as this are is popular with cyclists by the hundreds. I circled the lakes coming back on a beautiful small path through the forest at the base of a granodiorite hill. Granitic hunks of rock stuck out in places among the trees and with a stream and lake on the other side, I half expected to meet faery. Momentarily, I thought I had when in the middle of the forest, I chanced upon a woman with bright red hair in a tail, tattoos up one arm and across the top of her chest walking her cat. On a leash. She explained they lived in an apartment so this was her Cat’s treat…. hmmm.
From there I hopped in the van over the top of the hill and into the next valley to catch up with the lines and follow them a bit farther. I had already been there as well but there were a lot of additional points on the lines to discover and so I spent time in the streets mapping street to street of this village even up to the top of the same hill but on the other side of it. Brno - Jehnice is a beautiful village and I soon found its Vietnamese Vecerka (General store), purchased my fresh rolls, salad dip, and ate lunch with an iced coffee in the small village square (circle actually). From there I did a long circuit along the sweep of the Templar always looking for the other line as well.
It was during this sweep, that I again entered the forest and came across a maiden again in the midst of nowhere taking close up photos of spring flowers. She did not acknowledge my presence and I wondered in a fanciful way if both these lady encounters were real or fae. As I came out of the forest in to a planted field, I found one of the lines and started to follow it across the field and upto the village cemetery when I heard a chilling sound behind me. Hard breathing and hoof sounds. Turning, I at first thought it was a very large dog but then realised in was a wild pig charging at me. For a moment, I was wondering what damage it would do when it hit me and then it suddenly shifted direction and passed so close I could feel the draft from its movement and smell the thing. My heart beating wildly, I watched in disbelief as it galloped into the forest and down a hill on the other side of the field.
I found a seat on the other side of the cemetery to reflect on what had happened and discovered an open air tree chapel - also on the line. It was there that I saw a sign saying what this area was complete with the coat of arms for the village. And there, embedded in that coat of arms was the Templar cross. Unfortunately, I cannot find any reason for this only the vague reference to the first mention of the village in 1292 however, the fact that the Templar alignment passes through it is yet another synchronicity.
The wild pig symbolises strength and determination and is also seen as a symbol of prosperity and abundance - also intuition and wisdom. As one site put it ‘by embodying the boar’s symbolism, one can tap into this innate wisdom, ensuring a bountiful and fruitful existence.’ I take the boar’s approach to me as a sign and will take onboard its meaning.
Before the weekend I wrote about finding magic over the weekend - as you can see, I did. Did you?
The coat of arms of Jehnice (Lamb in Czech). It appears to have religious connotations as the Lamb - son of God - holds a flag with a Templar type cross on it and has one foot on a book - the good book? Below is a symbol of a crescent moon on top of that cross. Anyone know what this means?
What a great weekend! Thank you for sharing it.
Will be interested to find out the symbolism of the crescent moon & cross … I initially wrote sickle … 🤔 could it have more than one meaning ?
