My daughter’s dog Rocky is getting old. He is approaching 14 and he is deaf and partially blind and has arthritis in one knee. None the less, he is still up for a walk and his tail shoots up every time a walk is offered. Yet one thing I have noticed is how much of a strange eater he is. Lay out some fresh dog food and he turns his nose up at it. Wait until its almost rancid and he gobbles it like there are no tomorrows. In between, he lusts after our food but doesn’t get any.
I really don’t quite get this behaviour.
And then I thought but isn’t this like some of us?
You know, we can’t make our minds up about something or someone and by the time we are forced to make a decision - its rancid already? An indecisiveness that has us giving up the potential for fresh and varied things in the hope something better will happen along only to end up settling for what had been on offer and can be seen as now a stale option.
I tend to oscillate between indecisive and unable to move forward or rashly decisive. On balance, I’m not sure which is worse ….. If I make a snap decision I often find out that I overpaid or made some kind of basic mistake that a little research might have helped avoided. Like when I originally wanted to invest in precious metals… I walked into the Czech Mint and listened to the young girl serving and walked away with two huge commemorative silver medals that likely will never yield a profit. Later on, I started shopping around, buying gold as it is not subject to VAT (Silver is here) and I purchased bars or coins. I screwed up and they saw me coming.
When I am indecisive it means you can miss opportunities like discounts or even the entire event. An example being thinking about buying tickets for a T.Rex concert when I was a school kid. Eventually after much waffling around I tried only to find all tickets sold. Just months later Marc Bolan died in a car accident…..
And that brings me to my point. Balance.
One thing I have learned (though like all imperfect people - often forget about) is balance. Balance is where it is at for happiness, wellness and sanity. I know this writing my book The Mystical Hexagram and in part, it is why that symbol appealed to me magically. It is the symbol of balance after all and it is also a key to unlock so much more…. But it is all about balance.

fyi: Impulsiveness or Descipleship?
But you, dear friends, build yourself up in your most holy faith.
Jude 20
Impulsiveness is all right in a child, but is disastrous in a man or woman - an impulsive adult is always a spoiled person. Impulsiveness needs to be trained into intuition through discipline.
Yes, the above can be argued about up and down, I know, it would be fun too, however there's something to be said for what is being said here.
Just food for thought, it popped up on my calendar today so I'd say it may be of value, I wish you a lovely day, Grüß Gott.
There are 2 saying I like but they are contradictory
1. Fools rush in
2. He who hesitates is lost
Perhaps if we all become hesitating fools we might find true balance :)
